Getting to Know Each Other
Our team gathered together to share a meal at the Currids' house last Friday. We wanted to have time to learn a little more about each other and to ask questions and get more details about our trip. Eight team members of the twelve were able to attend. While Dr. Currid manned the grill we grouped together by twos and answered some questions about one another so we could introduce each other to the rest of the group at dinner.
It was a lovely dinner, deliciously prepared by the Currids. After introducing each other and playing two more games, we sang Happy Birthday to Dr. Currid and had ice cream cake for dessert. All the while we were talking about how we were preparing for the trip.
It's not easy to leave family, work, and church responsibilities for an extended time. Some of our team couldn't make the dinner because of previous commitments and others have work to do up to the day we leave so commitments are fulfilled. Figuring out the logistics of the next week for each family on our team is occupying our thoughts as we plan for our journey. We have work to finish, people to visit, checklists of what to do before we can leave our homes, families, and businesses.
It's easy to forget that there are many details and glitches to be ironed out before leaving the country.
Some we can plan for, like transportation to and from the airports, others we have to roll with, like how long it will take to get through customs and whether our flight will leave and arrive on schedule.
The church in Solihull has planned our itinerary while we visit with input from some of our team members. It has been a blessing to see how excited they are about our visit. We all know that our time with them will involve pushing ourselves beyond what we may think we can do or have planned to do. As long as we are willing to be used how God would have us to be used for His Kingdom, we will know the joy of new experiences while meeting brothers and sisters in Christ and while sharing the love we have for our Savior with people who need to hear the truth of the gospel.
