Team from Sovereign Grace prepares for Trip

A team of twelve men and women are traveling to Solihull, UK, in a few weeks for a short-term mission trip.  We are going to enjoy fellowship with members of Solihull Presbyterian Church which worships in the Hobs Moat neighborhood of Solihull, a community located south and east of Birmingham.   We hope to encourage the small congregation as well as join them in outreach activities in the surrounding neighborhoods.  We will worship with them on two Sundays, and we will be staying in their homes as another way to connect individually with the families of the church.

We met as a team in June to receive information about our trip.  Rob, Henry, and Brian have been planning with Pastor Stephen Dancer in Solihull the daily details of our activities.  We will gather together for dinner and a time of prayer the week before we leave. We want to keep our Sovereign Grace church family informed about what we are doing and experiencing by posting to this blog regularly while we are in England.

Each of us brings a unique perspective that will influence our impressions of serving the Lord in another country.  Some of us have never left the States and this trip will be the first time traveling out of the country while others were born and raised somewhere else and know what it feels like to be a 'foreigner' in a new country.  Our diversity as a group will be used by God to serve the people we meet as we connect with other believers and as we talk to strangers about the faith we profess.

Please keep us in your prayers in the next few weeks leading up to our departure.  There are still details not settled about housing and activities.  God is leading us forward and it will be exciting to see how He will call us to serve.
