The congregation consists of a diverse group of people. We met people from Nigeria, Poland, India, Holland, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, England, and America (not just us!). This is a multi-national congregation in the middle of England. We had tea and coffee as the fellowship hall was set up, then we ate lunch, then had our pudding (dessert) and coffee again. Since the church began meeting at an old United Reformed church building a few years ago, they have grown in number. The prayer is that our evangelistic efforts this week will bring more families into the church from the local area since many of the members live outside of Solihull. Most of us were able to return to our host homes for a quick rest before evening worship. It was a little more difficult for a few of us to not feel the effects of jet-lag by the time the evening worship was over, but we persevered. Pastor Dancer preached on John 1 and we ended the evening with coffee and tea. We returned to our host homes for an early night because we have to be ready to begin our Monday activities.
The Sunday worship with fellow believers was an encouragement to us and to the congregation; the room was full. We enjoyed talking to all the people, spending time with them and feeling like we were getting to know them for a time. The curiosity and interest in one other were felt on both sides of the conversations.
We are excited to work this coming week alongside these Christians who want to show Christ's love to Solihull.
